“Envelhecimento sensorial, declínio cognitivo e qualidade de vida no idoso com demência.”
Abstract
O processo de envelhecimento humano quando ocorre naturalmente é acompanhado por perdas e ganhos em todas as dimensões da vida.
Ao nível sensorial, todos os sentidos são afectados, verificando-se uma perda de acuidade e de sensibilidade que vai alterando a nossa relação com o mundo.
Esta perda gradual, no futuro pode significar diminuição da autonomia, baixa de relação com os outros, perda de qualidade de vida e bem-estar e mesmo risco da integridade física.
Parece haver uma relação dual entre o envelhecimento sensorial e o declínio cognitivo de maneira que um influencia o outro e os dois comprometem a qualidade de vida do idoso com demência.
O objectivo desta revisão é perceber como o envelhecimento sensorial interage com o declínio cognitivo e com a qualidade de vida no idoso com demência.
