Pessoas idosas, Comorbilidades e Infeções Associadas aos Cuidados de Saúde (IACS): Um estudo de caso

Abstract


A transmissão cruzada de microrganismos pelas mãos dos profissionais de saúde é considerada a principal via de disseminação de infeções hospitalares (IACS). Estudos mostram que os profissionais podem reduzir a transmissão, aderindo às práticas de controlo, através da lavagem das mãos. Este é um estudo de caso, de uma pessoa idosa com demência submetida a cirurgia, com o objetivo de compreender as práticas dos profissionais de saúde, quanto ao cumprimento dos cinco momentos essenciais para a higiene das mãos. Os resultados sugerem que as crenças dos profissionais de saúde em relação à necessidade de higienização das mãos são um obstáculo ao cumprimento do preconizado pela OMS.
