Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

This section publishes original empirical studies that present clear, focused, and unpublished research findings in the field of gerontology, social intervention, ageing studies, health, care, and related applied disciplines.
Original articles should normally follow the IMRAD structure: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscripts must present a well-defined research question, appropriate methodological procedures, clearly reported results, and a discussion of the implications for research, practice, policy, or professional intervention.
Submissions to this section are subject to editorial screening and peer review.
Artigos de Revisão / Review Articles
This section publishes review articles that synthesize existing knowledge on topics relevant to gerontology, ageing, social intervention, health, care, policy, and applied practice.
Review articles may include narrative reviews, systematic reviews, integrative reviews, scoping reviews, or other structured forms of evidence synthesis. Authors should clearly describe the purpose of the review, the search strategy, the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the sources consulted, and the method used to organize and interpret the evidence.
Submissions must provide a critical and useful synthesis for researchers, professionals, organizations, or decision-makers. Review articles are subject to editorial screening and peer review.

This section publishes analyses of public policies, institutional programmes, regulatory frameworks, or strategic documents relevant to ageing, gerontology, social intervention, care, health, welfare, and community-based services.
Policy analyses should connect scientific evidence with social relevance, implementation challenges, equity considerations, and practical implications for decision-makers, organizations, professionals, or communities.
Submissions should present a clear policy object, a structured analytical approach, and a critical discussion of its implications. Manuscripts in this section are subject to editorial screening and peer review.
Estudos de Caso / Case Studies
This section publishes case studies describing specific interventions, programmes, services, organizations, communities, or applied situations in real-world contexts.
Case studies should provide a clear description of the context, the problem or need addressed, the intervention or process implemented, the observed outcomes, and the lessons learned. Authors should discuss the transferability of the experience, its limitations, and its relevance for professional practice, service development, research, or policy.

Artigos Metodológicos / Methodological Articles
This section publishes articles focused on methodological issues, research procedures, instruments, analytical strategies, validation processes, assessment tools, or emerging methodological approaches relevant to gerontology and applied social, health, and care research.
Methodological articles may present new instruments, adaptations of existing tools, methodological protocols, data collection procedures, analytical frameworks, or critical discussions of methods used in applied research and intervention.
Submissions should demonstrate methodological clarity, practical usefulness, and relevance for research quality. Manuscripts in this section are subject to editorial screening and peer review.
Relatos de Experiência / Practice Reports
This section publishes practice reports based on professional, institutional, community, educational, or intervention experiences in the field of gerontology and ageing-related practice.
Practice reports should describe the context of the experience, the objectives, the activities or intervention developed, the participants or target population, the main outcomes or observations, and a critical reflection on the lessons learned.
Unlike empirical research articles, practice reports may give greater emphasis to situated professional knowledge and reflective analysis. However, they must maintain academic clarity, ethical responsibility, and relevance for practice. Submissions are subject to editorial screening and may be sent for peer review when appropriate.
Data Papers / Data Papers
This section publishes data papers that describe datasets relevant to gerontology, ageing studies, social intervention, care, health, community services, policy analysis, or related fields.
Data papers do not primarily report traditional research findings. Their main purpose is to describe the origin, structure, content, methodology, quality, accessibility, and potential reuse of a dataset.
Submissions should include information on data collection procedures, variables, ethical approvals, consent, anonymization, data governance, access conditions, limitations, and possible applications. Data papers are subject to editorial screening and peer review.
Ensaios Visuais / Visual Essays
This section publishes visual essays that communicate knowledge through images, diagrams, photographs, infographics, visual narratives, or other visual formats, accompanied by a concise academic text.
Visual essays should address topics relevant to gerontology, ageing, social intervention, care, health, education, community practice, or public communication of science. They must include a clear rationale, contextual explanation, ethical consideration of images or visual materials, and a reflective or analytical component.
Submissions are subject to editorial screening and may be sent for peer review when appropriate. The Editorial Board may request revisions to ensure visual clarity, accessibility, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Recursos Educacionais / Educational Resources
This section publishes educational resources designed to support training, teaching, professional development, or knowledge transfer in gerontology, ageing, social intervention, health, care, and related fields.
Educational resources may include teaching materials, practical guides, training protocols, manuals, intervention tools, assessment resources, or structured pedagogical materials. Submissions should clearly state the target audience, learning objectives, scientific basis, proposed use, and practical relevance.
Resources must be academically grounded, ethically appropriate, and useful for students, professionals, organizations, or community settings. Submissions are subject to editorial screening and may be sent for peer review when appropriate.
