In the ageing process of women during peri- and postmenopausal stages, a hormonal deficit occurs that is responsible for various symptoms. Hormone replacement therapy emerged to overcome these symptoms; however, due to its disadvantages, other therapies have been explored. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of hormone replacement therapy and soy isoflavones in relieving menopausal symptoms. A bibliographic search was conducted in the PubMed database. Hormone replacement therapy showed positive results for all symptoms under study. Although isoflavones demonstrated positive effects on most symptoms assessed, further research is required to better clarify their effectiveness.
